We. Are. Fam-il-y!
We've come to the end of another great week at Kinwell! Students are finishing their first classes of the semester, and we are so proud of their hard work and perseverance. We've been having a lot of fun, too! There have already been some coffee outings, pick-up basketball games, neighborhood walks, and push up contests to keep everybody on their toes! :)
Our theme this week is FAMILY. Our new teacher, Charlotte, led us through a really meaningful activity, where we spent time reflecting on the "house(s) that built us" (thank you, Miranda Lambert!). For some students, those houses have involved absent parents, addiction, and pain. For other students, those houses have been rich in laughter, memories, and loyalty. And for many of us, our houses have included a smattering of those things–joy and pain, relationships and struggle, abundance and want. But all of those things have built and shaped us.
Our hope is that students will feel safe, loved, and cherished at Kinwell. In fact, we have a saying painted on our wall: "Welcome! You belong here." We pray that students feel that sense of belonging as valued members of our Kinwell family.
