Train To Race

Papa Rog giving the pep talk to go hard in school

I remember one day in high school, I finished my run in cross country practice by finishing with a sprint, thinking I would show everyone how hard I practiced that day. Instead, my cross country coach yells, "Dresbach! We don't race to train. Train to race." He explained to me that certain days I needed to run at a slower pace in order to train harder the next day, which would help me run my best on race days. Note taken: planning your pace makes you stronger in the long run.

Many students come to Kinwell behind on credits to graduate high school. Our program allows them to work as many hours it takes to get on track, graduate, and kick down the door into life (usually job or college). So we work with each student to help them know the pace for them to start killin' it! Some students are already more than halfway or close to being done with their first credit of the year!

Extra Fresh

Who doesn't love the feel of falling into bed with a clean set of sheets? We provide a washer and dryer for our students and families to provide another aspect of whole-person wellness.

Remember who you are, Simba

Family Time this week centered on the theme of identity. On Wednesday Mrs. Witzig led us through a mad-lib-like poem to help us think about how we became who we are. Here is what senior Taylor Fritch came up with:

I am from china cabinets in every room
From Campbell's Soup and hair curlers.

I am from the big purple house in the middle of Grant St. with the huge pine tree in front, with cars parked everywhere and kids all around.
It sounded like relief.

I'm from Grant St. in my grandma's house, corn bread, and chilli.

I'm from the Christmas Eve snowmans and hugs all the time.
From Grandma and Randy and Ron.

From the softball practices in the front yard and the five meals around the big round table.

I am Taylor

Prayer Requests

1. We've begun our partnership with Family Service Society to offer group counseling to students who want it. Pray for transformation and healing!
2. We're continuing to establish culture for the first few weeks at school. Pray for God's wisdom that our ideas are from Him.
